FDS North Director Eddie Mulqueen said the
North East was one of the country’s hotspots for
future franchise success.
“The North East has had to change from a
manufacturing based economy in the last couple of
decades and, through regeneration and investment, is
becoming a region of innovation,” he said.
“Over the last ten years a wide range of businesses
has been set up and these are now becoming ripe for
expansion.
“With the current unpredictable financial climate,
many firms are being very cautious about borrowing
to fund this growth.
“But franchising has several benefits as a route to
growth – franchisees bring their own funds into the
business and are generally driven, committed
individuals, who have an equal investment in your
brand.
“It’s not a ‘get rich quick’ option, as investment
in both time and money is required from the outset,
but it is a positive way for businesses to grow.”
The company has already joined the North East
Chamber of Commerce and is registered as an approved
Business Link consultant, as well as being a full
affiliate member of the British Franchise
Association.
